Modern Trends in Sports Administration and Management
One of the main factors of militants to the development of sports in Nigeria today is the lack of effective management. Many solutions offered by Nigeria who care and patriotic every day to guarantee us with Quagmire. One of these solutions is this text entitled “Modern Trends in Administration and Sports Management”. This was written by Dr. Joseph Awoyinfa, a lecturer in the Ministry of Human Kinetics and Health Education, Education Faculty, Lagos University, Nigeria; An education researcher and consultant. I was a person invited by the author and university to review books when presented to the public on December 4, 2008 in Nigeria.
According to Awoyinfa, it is a problem throughout the world that exercise is now a reference problem that can no longer be ignored in various economic sectors and ball life. The author added that this text thus requires a critical view of topical issues in administration and sports management, who live on theory and principles of modern trends in sports and management administration such as leadership, organization, planning, motivation, etc.
The text contains 16 chapters. Chapter One is baptized “sports management concept”. Here, Awoyinfa said management is a concept that implies different things to different people at different times, so that it leads to definition multibility. He explained that management has been described as art, science, someone or person, a discipline and a process.
This author said that as art, sports management is about running the function of sports organizations and tasks through people; Whereas as science, sports management is about building philosophy, law, theory, principle, process, and sports practice. As an organization, according to him, sports management is defined as a means to create a formal structure and establishment based on mission, goals, targets, functions, and duties.
Awoyinfa said as a person or group of people, sports management can refer to the head only or to all senior staff, committees, etc.; Whereas as discipline, management is a field of study with various subjects and topics. The author illuminates that sports management as a process is about a systematic way of doing something. Awoyinfa highlights management functions in sports administration as planning, organizing, staff, directing / leading, controlling, coordination, budgeting and evaluation. To whom sports manager, this author educates that sports manager is anyone at every level of sports organizations that directs

Chapter two is based on evolutionary lessons and sports management thinking trends. Here, Awoyinfa revealed that the development of thinking about sports management came from the days when people first tried to achieve goals by working together in groups. In his words, “there was serious thinking and voltage about managing years before the dawn of the twentieth century (20), which marked the beginning of modern sports management thinking. Great efforts to develop the theory and principles of sports management began early. The twentieth century (20th) with the work of Frederick Taylor and Henri Fayol. The 19th century industrial revolution (19) might provide a climate for this very serious theory. “
